  • How does the NEXT Launchpad work?

    The program has weekly themes and objectives focusing on essential aspects of running a successful startup. Week by week, this carefully designed curriculum helps to make actual progress in your business with a strong business foundation.

  • What is Startup/ Business accelerator?

    Startup accelerators are programs that help entrepreneurs grow their businesses. They provide mentorship, access to technology, office space and an innovative community. All of this is delivered to the startups in a short time frame. The aim is to turn the complex and intimidating task of starting a company into a set of actions that result into successful startups.

  • What is NEXT Launchpad?

    It is a 4 months long home-grown startup accelerator program. It is first of its kind in Nepal, and has been created in collaboration with our ever expanding network of mentors and experts. The curriculum is delivered to you through workshops, brainstorming sessions, one-on-one guidance, and inspirational talks.

  • When is your intake period?

    Our fall intake period has started on 25th September. You can apply for the accelerator program here.

  • When are the selected startups announced?

    Our selection process is rigorous. You can normally expect at decision from us within 15 days.

  • How long is the acceleration program?

    The accelerator program lasts a total of 4 months. The normal timings for the workshop and sessions are 8 am to 11 am.

  • How do I enroll in NEXT Launchpad?

    To enroll in the acceleration program, you will need to fill in a detailed application form. The form is quite long but it provides us with crucial information when we are assessing potential businesses. You can find the form here.

  • Do you take in just ideas?

    No, we do not take just ideas for the program. To qualify, you need to have at least operated your business for 6 months to 1 year, and have a ready for market product.

  • What is the selection criteria?

    Your intake for the program is based on the application, personal interviews and team dynamics among other factors. We look for startups that have potential for growth nationally and internationally. While the idea of the startups is definitely important, we believe that the teams are the most important part of a startup.

  • Can I apply if I am a solo founder?

    The focus is on small teams, not on individual founders. Accelerators consider that one person is insufficient to handle all the work associated with a startup. While we don’t rule out companies with only a single founder, we know that single-founder companies have a much harder time succeeding. So we do strongly encourage companies to come in with a balanced team of at least one strong technical founder and one founder who has business or marketing experience.

  • How many teams qualify in each intake for NEXT Launchpad?

    We take in 10 startups so that we can dedicate sufficient time to each of them.

  • Do you charge application and program fees?

    There are no application fees. However, there is a charge for the program for the startups that are selected. For each selected startup, we take 8% equity at the start of the program on the valuation of the company. This allows us to have a vested interest in the success of the startups. Out of the 8% equity we will be selling off 4% to the investor during your first round of investment, and the next 4% in the second round of investment. If you do not receive investment during the program, we will be holding on to the shares until 2 years after which we sell it off to the founders of the company or any third party. The details of these will be communicated to you after you have been selected.

  • What sort of companies do you select?

    We select and fund companies with passionate founders and high growth potential. Startups that can go out of boundaries and have globally scalable products are our ideal candidates. To qualify as a candidate you need to be able to communicate with us how you are creating value with your business.

  • Do you fund companies that are competitive with each other?

    We ensure that competitive companies are not taken in the same batch. Though it is likely that similar contenders can receive funds in other batches.

  • Does my company have to be in Kathmandu?

    No, your company does not have to be situated in Kathmandu. However, is it required that at least one of the co-founder and a team member be present in Kathmandu during the entire program as well as pre-program (interview & orientations).

  • If I have already had investment can we negotiate equity?

    For startups who have already received or do not need investment, we still take 8% equity. We will not change the agreement for the different circumstances of each of the startups.

  • Is my company too far gone to apply to NEXT Launchpad?

    It depends on various factors such as your vision, product/service, market, program, business strategy of your company. However, we think no business is too far gone, if you have the drive to grow your business there is always a place for improvement.

  • How many hours do we need to invest on our startup at the accelerator?

    You should prepare to allot around 18-24 hour per week for your startup at the accelerator program. On working days from Monday to Friday we have mentor sessions / workshops / training, starting from 8 am to 11 am. Furthermore, we have networking sessions on Friday evenings. There are other on-demand sessions that will be provided on Sunday mornings between 8 am to 11 am.

  • Who are the mentors? How do they help us?

    Mentors are your guides who help you build your startup. They are seasoned entrepreneurs, and experts who offer you their assistance throughout the accelerator program by utilizing their expertise, knowledge and networks.

  • What is an accelerator curriculum?

    An accelerator curriculum is what makes an accelerator. It outlines the course content, objectives, assignments that will help you learn the fundamental of running a successful startup. Our curriculum has been based on the solid groundwork of the ‘Lean Methodology’, assuring proper education to grow your startup.

  • Will the investment be assured?

    As facilitators, we make sure that you are given the best training, resources, mentorship, networks and exposure. Together, we will work hard to make your startup investment ready. However, we cannot assure investment as it is dependent on the strength of the business and how well you are able to negotiate with the investors.

  • Does NEXT Launchpad invest in selected startups?

    No, the launchpad does not make direct cash investments in startups. However, we will be present in the investors panel as NEXT Venture Fund, and will be looking to invest on some of our favorite startups.

  • Will I receive a loan or equity investment?

    You will only be getting equity investment. The percentage of equity given depends on the investment you receive and the negotiations with the investor.

  • What range of investment can I expect at NEXT Launchpad?

    There is no specific range we can assure to the startups, as it depends on the needs of each of the startups. However, our investors are generally looking to invest somewhere in the range of 50 lakh to 2 crore.

  • Will NEXT be helping me with the due diligence and processing regarding investment?

    Yes, NEXT will be helping you with the legal issues and processing.

  • What kind of investors will I have at NEXT Launchpad?

    You will get to pitch your growing business to high net-worth individuals and institutional investors of both local and international caliber.

  • Does NEXT Launchpad sign NDA/copyright?

    No, we do not sign NDA. We believe that the success of a startup depends more on the team and execution rather than just the idea. Moreover, we suggest founders with sensitive business ideas and models to protect their Intellectual Property rights beforehand.

  • Why would investors invest after going through NEXT Launchpad curriculum?

    Our curriculum is based on the solid foundations of ‘Lean Methodology’ which assures that you are given proper education on how to start a business. Going through an accelerator is an announcement to the investors that your business has gone through rigorous evaluations and set up in the correct way. From the viewpoint of the investors, the risk of investing in your business is significantly lower than investing on some other startup.

  • I am not based in Kathmandu. Will you be assuring accommodation during the acceleration period?

    We do not provide accommodation services. However, we will link you to the hosts, hostels or apartments if required.
